Etymology edit

Of unclear origin. Traditionally connected to तुषार (tuṣāra, cold, frost); Wack proposes a series of forms derived from तुषार (tuṣāra) > *तुष्ण (tuṣṇa) > *तुषिण (tuṣiṇa) / *तुण्ह (tuṇha), which led to the form of तुहिन (tuhina) via contamination.
