धीमा
Hindi
editEtymology
editFrom Prakrit [script needed] (*dhīmma, “slow”), perhaps related to a family of Prakrit words meaning "lump" with an initial ढ् (ḍh), including Prakrit [script needed] (*ḍhīmma-, “lump”); the further origin of these words is unknown and perhaps borrowed from a substrate like Dravidian or Munda. Compare Punjabi ਧੀਮਾ (dhīmā) / دھِیما (dhīmā), Gujarati ધીમું (dhīmũ), Marathi धिमे (dhime), Bengali ঢিমা (ḍhima).
