From Proto-Indo-Iranian *bʰišáȷ́ (physician, healer), from the root *bʰiš- (medicine, healing). Cognate with Avestan 𐬠𐬌𐬱𐬀𐬰- (bišaz-), Northern Kurdish bijişk (doctor), Persian پزشک (pezešk, doctor).

      yuyuyātāmito rapo apa sridhaḥ .
      And may the Aśvins, the divine Pair of Physicians, send us health:
      May they remove iniquity and chase our foes.
