Cognate with Kannada ಮಂಜು (mañju, “fog”), Kodava ಮಂಜ್ (mañj, “dew”), Gondi మచ్ (mac, “dew”), Tamil மஞ்சு (mañcu, “fog, dew, cloud”), Telugu మంచు (mañcu, “fog, dew, snow”) and Tulu ಮೈಂದ್ (maindŭ, “fog, dew”).
