Etymology 1
editFrom corruption of ลัมภางค์ (lam-paang, literally “body of Lampha; embodiment of Lampha”), which a Buddhist legend says was the name that Gautama Buddha gave the place when he stayed in a forest called Lampha (ลัมพะ) or Lamphakari (ลัมพการี).[1]
