Borrowed from Pali sati (sense; memory; etc), from Sanskrit स्मृति (smṛti). Cognate with Khmer សតិ (saʼteʼ), Lao ສະຕິ (sa ti), Shan သတီႉ (sǎ tḭ̂i), သတိ (sǎ tǐ). Doublet of สมฤดี (a form).
