Etymology edit

Wasei eigo (和製英語; pseudo-anglicism), derived from power +‎ up, equivalent to パワー (pawā, noun) +‎ アップ (appu, verb), literally to up power or abilities. Not to be confused with English power up (to charge with electrical power, verb) which is from power (verb) +‎ up (adverb).
