From Proto-Anatolian [Term?], from Proto-Indo-European *bสฐรณdสฐhโ‚‚-ey ~ *bสฐdสฐhโ‚‚-รฉn-ti, from the root *bสฐedสฐhโ‚‚- (โ€œto dig, burrowโ€).[1] Cognate with Proto-Balto-Slavic *bรกdฤซห€tei (โ€œto pierce, stabโ€), Latin fodiล (โ€œto pierce; to digโ€), Tocharian A pฤt- (โ€œto plowโ€).
