Etymology

edit

From Proto-Anatolian *bn̥ǵús, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰn̥ǵʰ-ú-s.

Compare Sanskrit बहु (bahu). A relation has been suggested from Proto-Indo-European *ponkʷto- (all, whole), from *penkʷ- (to take in hand, to handle), thus Latin cūnctus would be cognate.[1]
