Category:Korean ideophones

Korean terms that evoke an idea, especially a sensation or impression, with a sound.

This category contains 의성어 (擬聲語, uiseong'eo, “onomatopoeias”) and 의태어 (擬態語, uitaeeo, “mimetic words”).

In monolingual dictionaries of Korean, these words are categorized as 부사 (副詞, busa, “adverbs”) but have special non-gloss definitions ending with ~ 소리 (~neun sori, “the sound of...”), ~ 모양 (~neun moyang, “the shape of...”), or ~ 느낌 (~neun neukkim, “the feeling of...”), which are never used in describing non-ideophonic adverbs.
