Etymology
edit18th century, from Italian coda. Doublet of Queue.
Pronunciation
editNoun
editCoda f (genitive Coda, plural Codas)
Usage notes
edit- There is no intentional distinction between both spellings and either can be used in any context. However, the difference in frequency has to do with the fact that linguistic terminology is predominantly Latin (where German generally uses k), while musical terminology is predominantly Italian (a modern language, where German tends to keep the original spelling).
