Desaster
German edit
Etymology edit
Ca. 1800, from French désastre, itself from Italian disastro. The now predominant pronunciation with a long vowel is unusual; English influence would be a plausible but speculative explanation.
Pronunciation edit
Noun edit
Desaster n (strong, genitive Desasters, plural Desaster, diminutive Desasterchen n)
