Dutch edit

Etymology edit

Derived from hof (estate) and the toponym Twente. The name of the new municipality was chosen because of its largely rural character and the presence of multiple large estates within its boundaries.

Pronunciation edit

  • IPA(key): /ˈɦɔf vɑn ˈtʋɛn.tə/
  • Hyphenation: Hof van Twen‧te
  • Rhymes: -ɛntə
