Etymology

From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *r/g-na (“ear”). Cognate with Burmese နား (na:, “ear”), Tibetan རྣ་བ (rna ba, “ear”), Old Chinese 耳 (OC *njɯʔ), Nuosu ꅳ (hnap, “ear”) and Jingpho na. Compare Zaiwa no and Hpon ă nà.
