From *ablonь (apple tree) +‎ *-ьnъ.

It should be noted that Slovene jábolen can also derive from not attested elsewhere Proto-Slavic *ablьnъ + *-ьnъ. Slovincian jablany can also derive from jablô + Proto-Slavic *-ěnъ.
