Reconstruction:Proto-Turkic/tūŕ
Proto-Turkic
editEtymology
editNişanyan argues that the archaic form of the word is "tūbuz". This explains the form tăvar in Chuvash and Давс in Mongolian.
Compare Evenki турукэ (turukə). (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
