Contact infoEdit

By the way, I'm pretty happy with the gmail spamfiltering. Posting my mailto:SomeWiktAdmin@gmail.com here hasn't really generated much spam, but I do get relevant e-mail delivered every day. --Connel MacKenzie 17:59, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

I know, GMail is fantastic! Jon Harald Søby 20:44, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Norwegian for listenEdit

Greetings. I know we don't see you editing around here as often these days, but would like to get your help for translations of the various definitions of listen. I'd like this to be a model page, and want to have a variety of languages represented in the translations as part of this goal. Thanks, --EncycloPetey 23:45, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Done.   If you have any other translation request, don't hesitate to ask; even though I don't edit here a lot, my watchlist here is among my home pages, so I'll see all messages pretty quickly. Jon Harald Søby 20:36, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

This is a template which you created. Do you think you could categorize it? I haven't attempted to find out if it fits into an already existing hierarchy. If it does it would be easy, if it doesn't we'll have to work something out. __meco 11:53, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Could you also categorize Template:no-verb-1? __meco 09:47, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
I have attempted to categorize all the Norwegian conjugation templates now. If you can, check that this has been done properly. __meco 12:51, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, I'm both sad and relieved. Good luck refocusing! --Connel MacKenzie 18:45, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Norwegian word "gymnas"Edit

Hi. You wrote that the Norwegian word "gymnas" means a gymnasium (an area for sports). However, I have only ever heard the word "gymnas" used about a high school, while a gymnasium is called "gymsal" or "sportshall" in Norwegian. Do you agree? 23:44, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Yup; I must havemistaken the meaning of "gymnasium"; I'll change the entry now. Jon Harald Søby 13:05, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Template:trans-top, Template:trans-midEdit

As they stand, these don't work properly any more when used together - could you fix them, please? Template:trans-mid now displays its code. — Paul G 07:40, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

After a long absense, do you really think it wise to make a fundamental change to an esoteric template set?

I do wish you had experimented with this change somewhere first. The "stylesheet" changes you made, don't belong in-template, so much as in MediaWiki:Common.css. But the Wiki-table syntax is still required as a wikitable somewhere or the CSS won't have anything to column-balance. I'm going to roll back your trans-top/trans-mid/trans-bottom changes from yesterday. I think if we try a more isolated experiment in trans-top2/trans-mid2/trans-bottom2 we might be able to hammer out the details without disrupting quite as many people...

--Connel MacKenzie 07:45, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Your version has been restored. It was just some confusion about "rollbacks" apparently. --Connel MacKenzie 07:58, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
I don't see how absence is relevant to improving a template set (which is in no way esoteric, by the way). In XHTML web coding it is an establised rule that only tabular data should be in tables (although this rule is, of course, often because people simply don't know about it), and these templates did not contain any tabular data, so I changed it to use correct CSS to get the desired effect. The fact that people reverted some (and not all) of the changes and thus screwed things up can't be said to be my fault… Jon Harald Søby 08:14, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
But springing a wide-reaching change out of the blue is not nice. Copying the broken Wikipedia method is not good enough, either. --Connel MacKenzie 08:31, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
What, precisely, do you mean by "XHTML web coding"? Is that the notion of the W3C that they can foist whatever standard they desire on the web, with no regard for backward-compatability? Or is that the ethos of Microsoft, that until they have "embraced and extended" something to the point at which the original code breaks (for their competitors) the standard hasn't been extended enough?
Two columns of data broken into left/right halves of a table, isn't tabular data?

Norwegian demonyms witouth suffixEdit

Hey, back in 2005 you created a lot of entries like maldiv, afrikan, antiguan etc. and gave them Bokmål inflection templates; but as far as I can see, the demonyms without suffixes are exclusively Nynorsk. --Harald Khan Ճ 09:20, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

I think we started splitting Nynorsk and Bokmål into two sections, with ==Norwegian Bokmål== and ==Norwegian Nynorsk==. — [Ric Laurent] — 16:01, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Oh crap. Jon Harald Søby 16:03, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
Oh, don't worry about it dude. There's so much mess on here, it's hardly a big deal. But for the future, it'd be good to split them up. Even though we even did that in such a shit way that we don't even have all the right templates... — [Ric Laurent] — 16:09, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
Hehe, that's true. Will keep it in mind. :-) Thanks for the heads-up! Jon Harald Søby 16:14, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
My pleasure, man. Good luck :) — [Ric Laurent] — 16:50, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Norsk IPAEdit

Njardarlogar (talk) 18:40, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
