Nardman1 to N

I know this is my first edit on Wiktionary, but I am trying to unify my logins (See w:User:N). The user name N here has no edits, I would like to usurp it. Thank you. Nardman1 14:07, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ZJH -> Zachary

User name is already registered, but it is the same username I use on a majority of wikimedia projects (see here) and would like to keep things easy by using the same username. There are no edits made by the account (unless they are in Special:Deletedcontributions/Zachary) and the logs are clear except for the new user log (so it would meet the requirements under enwp policy). Thanks, ZJH 14:16, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am still waiting for a rename. If someone could get around to doing it, that would be great. —Zachary talk 16:59, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done. --Dvortygirl 03:56, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Brian New Zealand -> Brian

Hi guys. I am renaming myself across Wikimedia (have been renamed elsewhere so far), from Brian New Zealand to Brian. Could a bcrat please consider renaming {unsurp) me here as well? Thanks in advance Brian New Zealand 00:07, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. --Dvortygirl 03:58, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User:Nexus already exists, but the account is inactive. Therefore, I request it be usurped to me. Charming 06:35, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No point in fulfilling this; the user has been blocked as a sockpuppet. Dmcdevit·t 03:56, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Today I tried to register here using my normal username "MTC", then I found out:

  1. There is already a User:MTC here that was created[1] in May 2006.
  2. It appears to have made two edits, both to the same page. However, both of those are actually by me (w:user:MTC) before that page was transwikied here from the English Wikipedia.

So I suppose I'm technically asking to usurp User:MTC complete with the edits it has (which are both mine anyway). - M132T003C 19:56, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Although I'm not a bureaucrat, I have to tell you that this usurpation is impossible. The account that you want to usurp must be zero contribution. But maybe youcan ask a developer to combine the accounts. --Edmundkh 17:56, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was under the impresson that the edits could be reattributed to this account so that the usurption would work. Since then I've found Help:Changing attribution for an edit, I knew I'd seen something like that somewhere, but I didn't realize it was only for IP addresses. - M132T003C 06:56, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. --Dvortygirl 02:56, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AGK is the account name I use on all other Wikimedia Foundation sites, including the English Wikipedia where I am an Administrator. In accordance with unified login, I am requesting this renaming.

Anthøny 23:40, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm changing to the name Edmundwoods in all Wikimedia Projects. I've changed my name in the English Wikipedia, Malay Wikipedia, Meta-Wiki and the Wikimedia Commons. --Edmundkh 17:59, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm getting "User:Edmundkh does not exist." Did you simply create a new account, perhaps? Please leave me a note on my user page if there's still anything to move, but place the request/explanation here. --Dvortygirl 03:02, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In anticipation of single user login, I'm trying to align all my usernames on the various Wikimedia wikis. Target name is unregistered. This seems to be considered a good reason above. Thanks, Picaroon9288 23:24, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please change the Real96 to Miranda, because I am known as Miranda on .en wiki. Thanks. miranda 04:45, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxymoron83 is the account name I use on all other Wikimedia projects, including the English Wikipedia where I am an Administrator. I request this renaming in accordance with unified login. The current User:Oxymoron83 was created by an impostor/long-term vandal I dealt with at en.WP at the same time. Please let me know if you need more details. My current Wiktionary username Oxymoronberlin is linked from my Wikipedia userpage. --Oxymoronberlin 19:02, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please change Missmalo to MissMalo. Thank-you so much.

Only two contribs (both to this page), desired user name is free... why? - [The]DaveRoss 14:40, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Erwin85

User:Erwin exists, no contribs. - [The]DaveRoss 14:49, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I created a global account, so Erwin85 can't be renamed to Erwin, but please rename the current Erwin, so the name can then be used by my global account. Thanks, Erwin85 20:28, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cool Cat -> White Cat

Please rename my account User:Cool Cat to User:White Cat. This is per my wikimedia wide username rename. Also so as to avoid possible complications stemming from SUL. Thanks. -- Cat chi? 09:53, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

16 contribs, target account doesn't exist, is there some reason you need the contribs you have associated with the new account or could you just create the new account and save the trouble? - [The]DaveRoss 14:45, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would really like a rename. My main concern is complications from SUL. I don't want to leave any leftover accounts behind. -- Cat chi? 18:12, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid the SUL is messing this up, at least for now. I get "Cannot rename user White Cat as this username is reserved for a global account." when I try to rename you. Sorry. --Dvortygirl 01:26, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is it possible for you to change my username from User:Reedy Boy to User:Reedy, as i am having it changed on the english wikipedia, and want to get the rest of my accounts inline for the single user login

Thanks

Reedy Boy 13:48, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

13 contribs, target account doesn't exist, any reason not to just create the account? - [The]DaveRoss 14:48, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I could do, but that then leaves this account here with the contribs. Just for completeness it would be better to have the contribs on the new account if possible. Thanks, Reedy Boy 14:53, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Any chance of this happening? Apart from my main account on en.wikipedia, the rest are now done, apart from this one. Reedy Boy 15:57, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please rename my account to User:Maire? Maire is the account name I use on all other Wikimedia projects, including the Polish Wikipedia and Commons where I am a sysop. I request this renaming/usurpation in accordance with the unified login. The current account User:Maire has existed since the end of January 2008 but no edits have been made from it. Please let me know if you need more details. My current Wiktionary username Mairene is linked from my Commons and Polish Wikipedia userpages. Thank you in advance. Mairene 12:13, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've freed up User:Maire but I can't move Mairene to Maire because you've already reserved that nickname. --Dvortygirl 01:32, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

usurpation request

I see that the rules forbid usurpation, but I thought I'd give it a try anyhow. I'd like to take over user:Brett. I have about 320 edits here, but over 6000 at Simple English Wiktionary where I'm a bureaucrat.--BrettR 12:26, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually with the new SUL, it looks like all you'd have to do is rename user:Brett to something else, at which point the system automatically reserves it and makes it available to me. Of course, then my BrettR edits don't move, but that's fine with me if it facilitates things.--BrettR 09:51, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you've already registered with SUL, no account can be renamed to Brett (assuming this is your SUL username), not even your current username. Found this out yesterday. :P -- Talyn Talk | Meta 14:33, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. As I said, I don't actually need a rename. All I need is user:Brett vacated. The system will do the rest.--BrettR 17:41, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see that usurpation is taking place. Why is my request being ignored?--BrettR 11:45, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Annabelleke

Please change Annabelleke to Annabel. I'd like to have the same user name on all wikis where I'm active. However an account with no edits already exist, so I wondered whether Annabel could be usurped. On nl:Gebruiker:Annabel you will find an almost complete list of my user accounts in the table. I have already registered Annabel for SUL. Annabelleke 21:23, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've freed up User:Annabel for you, but I can't move your account into it because you've already reserved it. --Dvortygirl 01:34, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Inactive since 2004 (the transwiki contribs are mine, anyways, so there's issues there with not renaming). I own the global account per SUL. Thanks, Daniel 00:17, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since this is a request to usurp, I've left a note on the talk page, just for good manners/good measure. If there's no answer in a few days, nudge me and I'll do this change. --Dvortygirl 05:41, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've freed up User:Daniel, but I can't move your nickname into the new account because you've already reserved it. --Dvortygirl 01:35, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That will hopefully be fixed in this bugfix. Thanks very much anyways; given the other account has negligble contributions, I've reregistered "Daniel" and tagged "D.B's pages for deletion for Google index purposes. Cheers, Daniel 11:44, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Usurp request

Hi there,

Is it possible to have Manticore (talkcontribs) usurped? The account only has a few minor edits, and I have registered this username in the unified login.

If there's any procedure you think would be appropriate to follow (leaving a talk page message or email) please let me know. I think giving this person the opportunity to be renamed is kinder than a forced system rename later down the track.

Best regards,

Talyn Talk | Meta 06:28, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Given that the user has an email address enabled it would be polite to email them and find out what name they would like for their new account, though with SUL I am not sure how much of an option for keeping that account we wish to give them. Conrad.Irwin 14:42, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed; I've sent them an email. Please email me with your email address if you'd like me to cc: it. -- Talyn Talk | Meta 15:20, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you are not a Wiktionary editor, there is no point to the name change. The whole point of SUL is that eventually your account will be global. At some oint in the future all accounts not owned by you with your same username will be usurped to you by the software. If you don't have any important edits on your current username that need to be merged into your account, then you can just go on like normal and let that happen. Dmcdevit·t 05:45, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm the above mentioned Manticore, just gave up my nick. any chance for my username to be changed into Hanacirman? Or do i just create a new account?

The user "Manticore" has been renamed to "Hanacirman", but I can't move Talyn to Manticore because the user name has already been reserved. --Dvortygirl 01:39, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! :) -- Manticore 13:13, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WOPR -> Computer

Please rename my bot account User:WOPR to User:Computer. This is per my wikimedia wide bot username syntax. Also so as to avoid possible complications stemming from SUL. Thanks. -- Cat chi? 00:13, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to usurp User:Sam. I am w:User:Sam -- an administrator on Wikipedia. I have the unified login for User:Sam for my accounts on 4 projects, and would like to start using it on Wiktionary. Previously, I have only edited anonymously on Wiktionary. The current User:Sam here has no history, so I'm wondering if I can usurp the account, and if it can be part of my unified login. I just created User:SamuelWantman so that there is an account that can be used for the usurp process. Does anyone know the procedure for usurping unused accounts by a global login? -- SamuelWantman 21:42, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • The nickname Sam is now free for you to use. I can't move SamuelWantman to Sam because you've already reserved it under SUL, but you should be able to log in here and edit now. --Dvortygirl 03:47, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Zenogantner

With 4 contributions (excluding userpage and here) there seems little point, just unify and leave this account dead (link to its contributions from your new userpage). Conrad.Irwin 22:08, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Done.

Hey there. I'm getting all my accounts renamed before I activate SUL from my homewiki of enwiki, so I'd really appreciate a change of this one :) I am Sean Whitton on meta and enwiki already, and have been for some time. Thanks. Xyrael 22:00, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have no contributions (except here, and one on your userpage). Just leave this account and go ahead with unification. Conrad.Irwin 22:04, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Done.
Thanks :) Sean Whitton 12:46, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Main reason is to bring it inline with my wikipedia account, second reason is that I now have a company under the jazzle name and wish to keep that separate. --Jazzle 12:42, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Woodchuck is the account name I use on other Wikimedia projects, including the English one where I have over 40 edits and the Polish one where I have over 60 edits. I request this renaming in accordance with m:Help:Unified login. The current User:Woodchuck had only one edit on Wictionary on 18 June 2007 and looks like he has abandoned his account. Thanks in advance:) Woodchuckk 20:37, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please rename my account to User:Leinad? Leinad is the account name I use on all other Wikimedia projects, including the Polish Wikipedia where I am a sysop. I request this renaming/usurpation in accordance with the unified login. Leinad pl 22:10, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is my username on most other projects, so I'd prefer to use that. Shell-man 22:42, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is more than a rename request, it is a usurpation request. A number of wikis had my preferred username registered by en:wp's Grawp vandal. This is a case of pure harassment. This is fairly well-known, at this point; you could check with commons:User:Lar and commons:User:Herbythyme for input.

I would like whomever handles this request to rename User:Jack Merridew to something else and to then rename User:JackMerridew TEMPUser:Jack Merridew. I'm about to create a user page (using subpages) and will move them if it is not automatically done. Cheers, JackMerridew TEMP 10:42, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

goofed; when creating the subpages, I created them in the desired userspace instead of the 'TEMP' userspace. I've moved them and believe I will need assistance moving them back after this request is handled. I considered transcluding them from there instead of moving them, but figured that this would just create a different hassle. Sorry, JackMerridew TEMP 11:01, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
an aside; Grawp also squatted on User:Gavin.collins here; this is not w:user:Gavin.collins and this is currently being discussed at commons:Commons:Changing username/usurp requests. The sleeper here should be CU'ed and renamed in the manner I'm requesting if the real Gavin wishes. Cheers, JackMerridew TEMP 10:42, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yikes! The rename is done. I think I got the two subpages, too. They would ordinarily move if there weren't something in the way. If someone would like to check and/or tag the redirects left behind, I'd appreciate it.--Dvortygirl 00:17, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you; seems fine to me. 'twas a bit disconcerting to click my bookmark and find myself not logged-in. I'll be re-registering the TEMP account and soft-redirecting it; after that, someone please block it forever. Salting Grawp's harassment accounts should be standard practice. Cheers, User:Jack Merridew a.k.a. David 08:05, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've re-registered User:JackMerridew TEMP and made one edit to the user talk page; I don't need the account, so block away. Cheers, User:Jack Merridew a.k.a. David 08:16, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
nb: User:Jack Merridew (impersonation) should be blocked forever, too. Matrix updated. Cheers, User:Jack Merridew a.k.a. David 08:32, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

While setting up a Unified Login, I've become aware that at various times in the last 5 years trolls have set up accounts in my name on several Wikimedia projects, and en.wiktionary is one of them. Could you please rename this account, and preferably scramble the password so the troll can't come back, so that I can proceed with the Unified Login? Thanks. -- 83.104.44.241 22:08, 19 April 2008 (UTC) (Arwel Parry, admin on en.wikipedia.org, bureaucrat on cy.wikipedia.org, user on meta.wikipedia.org and commons.wikimedia.org)[reply]

This has been done. I don't know how to "scramble a password", but the account has been blocked. --Dvortygirl 15:56, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to rename so I can merge for SUL. Thanks. Sr13 09:32, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done.--Dvortygirl 00:20, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm changing my usernames due to SUL preparation (see en: interwiki here for authentication). Thanks. --Luka Krstulovic 22:10, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have very few edits and the target account is not extant, why not just create the new account? - [The]DaveRoss 17:48, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Because it's too similar to the one that is extant. -- Luka Krstulovic 21:19, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The way to get that account without the error is to unify your accounts through SUL. The whole point of SUL is that you can go to wikis where you have not created an account before (like here for your main account) and log in without a problem. You only need to get an account renamed if someone else already has your name here. Unify your accounts and you will be able to log in here. Dmcdevit·t 22:48, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DavidL is the account name I use on several other wikimedia projects : b:fr:User:DavidL (bureaucrat), w:fr:User:DavidL, v:fr:User:DavidL, commons:User:DavidL, meta:User:DavidL. I request this usurpation in accordance with the unified login. The last DavidL's contribution was from October 2006. --DavidLDavidL 16:03, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Since this account was active, I've notified the user and we'll give him a couple of days to respond, just in case. --Dvortygirl 20:54, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • This is done, but your user page didn't automatically move because there was already a user page there. Please speak up if you need help getting that done. --Dvortygirl 04:32, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
      • Thanks. FYI: For the user page, after renaming DavidL to DavidL2, you should have removed the redirection pages (user and talk page) before renaming DavidLDavidL to DavidL. --DavidL 14:27, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ali-oopsUser:Alison - usurp request

Hi all. My name is Alison - my home wiki is enwikipedia where I'm admin/checkuser/oversighter, though I'm active on gawikti amongst other places. My account is User:Alison on SUL and basically everywhere is sorted now except here and dewikipedia :) Could I possibly usurp User:Alison here, please, as it's been inactive for over a year and has a total of three edits? Moving my account isn't necessary unless you really want to. Thanks! - Alison 04:10, 6 May 2008 (UTC) (PS: great to meet you in person at the weekend, Dvortygirl :) )[reply]

Yes, this is done, thanks :) - Alison 06:01, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm the user as on enwiki (w:User:Maxim, and it seems someone registered it before me. It has few edits assigned to it, via import. Maxim II 19:44, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My account has very few edits (9) but I don't know if it should be changed in anticipation of SUL, because it's close enough to conflict with trying to register my usual username here. If the SUL will override that, then it's not so important to change the name. I'll leave it to your discretion - thanks. --Chris Waterguy 06:47, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I would like my account renamed to User:Neil - it's a usurpation, as someone has created this account on Wiktionary. As it has made no contributions, this shouldn't be controversial (I think?). This is basically to get it inline with all my other accounts (for SUL). Thanks. Proto 11:44, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't know how to do that. We could do with a help page for this. SemperBlotto 21:17, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Done. To User:Proto, it's telling me that User:Neil is reserved for a SUL account. That's probably you, and it will probably take effect as soon as you log in again. To SemperBlotto, I don't think we need a help page. You simply rename the account to be usurped first. Here, for instance, I renamed User:Neil to User:Neil2 and that frees up the old name. Sometimes you can then rename the requesting user, depending on whether the system decides the name is taken. --Dvortygirl 04:28, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I want to create SUL, but the name Alessandro is used by differen pepole in a plenty of wikis, so I've decided to rename myself. Alessandro 20:43, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I'm the owner of the unified login joystick, but at your project I have the account named joystick.pl, because the one named joystick had already been in use when I registered. Therefore I request for renaming the user nick from joystick in order to vacate it, so as to let me change my user name from joystick.pl to joystick and unify my SUL. --Joystick.pl 14:12, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Done, I think. I moved User:Joystick, but when I try to move you I get that the name is taken, probably because you've already activated it. Let me know if we need to try again. --Dvortygirl 06:11, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'd like to request usurp for SUL purposes. There are 3 edits on the account I wish to usurp, but I couldn't find anything to say if this is a problem. My proof of identity on English Wikipedia can be found at [2]. Thanks for your help. Alexj2002 19:37, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SUL. Captain (ru) 15:59, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm an admin on en-wiki and I wish to usurp the new account as part of SUL. The new account has only 41 edits, all made on 25 Sept 2007. All edits appear to be minor (with 34 marked as such). There was some confusion between that account and me, to which the new account's last edit tried to impersonate me, but was subsequently corrected. The account has been inactive since that same day. Confirmation of my identity can be found here and here. - Mtmelendez-pr 16:10, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that User:Shii was created by some kind of transwiki glitch. I am w:User:Shii and I am merging my accounts for SUL. Ashibaka 01:25, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good to go. It's not been created by the transwiki, but the transwiki process incorrectly attributes the page's history to the local user account. Conrad.Irwin 15:26, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am w:en:User:!! over at Wikipedia, and am trying to register under SUL, but someone else seems to have registered an account under the same name here. Neither of us has any edits here yet. -- Bangbang 19:09, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Really? Aren't sockpuppets entitled to use SUL, then? There are some legitimate uses for sockpuppets, you know.
Anyway, I suggest you look at the relevant block log ("false positive") and consider this ArbCom ruling, particularly Evaluation of the block ("It was not reasonable for an administrator to block !! or take any other action based on this evidence, nor was the block justified by any other available evidence.") and !! encouraged ("!! is strongly encouraged to look past this extremely regrettable incident and to continue contributing high-quality content to Wikipedia under the account name of his choice."). If you are still in any doubt, I suggest you speak to a member of the ArbCom at the English Wikipedia involved with that case.
I just want to prevent the current owner of this account pretending to be me. (I need to do the same at the Japanese Wikipedia, but I'm not sure how to do that yet, given the language barrier...) -- Bangbang 22:17, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As a Wikipedia user who was active last November, I can confirm that what !! writes here is true. He is not a sockpuppet and has done nothing wrong, and he is entitled based on his contribs at Wikipedia to claim the global account if he wants it. Shalom 04:14, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As an administrator on English Wikipedia who was deeply involved in the arbitration case relating to the block of w:en:User:!!, I can vouch for him being an editor in good standing on English Wikipedia. He had changed usernames in accordance with practices in place at the time, for reasons that need not be disclosed here. This information can be verified by contacting any current member of the English Wikipedia Arbitration Committee, or the clerk for the case, w:en:User:Cbrown1023. (Note to User:Bangbang - if you contact me by email I can forward you the instructions for usurpation request for Japanese Wikipedia.) Risker 05:23, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there. As admin and checkuser on enwiki, I can also vouch for this editor, not only being an editor in good standing with a clean record, but also had been an excellent and productive member of the community. We had an unfortunate incident over there where this editor was indef blocked in error. Furthermore, as an aside, we have also had at least two instances of banned editors being accommodated on enwiki to allow their SUL unification to go ahead, even though they were locally blocked/banned. This has happened where editors went on to other wikis where they went on to be respected members of that community - Alison 05:33, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, as admin on en, I also vouch for !!, who is an exceptional contributor and would be an asset here. The indef block on the account on en was an extraordinarily unfortunate error. -- Samir (The Scope) 05:39, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As someone with no special ranks on the English Wikipedia, but who nonetheless quite likes this guy (and his username) and hope to see him return to EnWP one day, I also vouch for him. Giggy\Talk 10:21, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As Dtobias recently pointed out, it appears the stigma of being accused (even falsely) of evil deeds by the dominant cliques of some WMF-sponsored projects can last indefinitely and follow an allegedly vile miscreant around teh Intarwebs to many other sites and to other WMF-sponsored projects, as well. Moulton 13:51, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The Wikipedia userpage ((w:User:!!) appears to be an attempt at humour, not an actual warning template, and while they haven't contributed to building the encyclopedia for a while I see no reason to prevent this rename - though the vast number of vouches is very perturbing, from where is this page linked to? Conrad.Irwin 15:33, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia Review thread ... as a note, I sent Dvortygirl an email also vouching for !!... why are the number of vouches perturbing? ++Lar: t/c 15:38, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I find it perturbing that people feel the need to vouch support, as on the forum, I strongly suspect that the refusal was caused by first impressions. Special:Listusers makes me wince at the sight of all the exclamation marks, the wikipedia page says "This is a Wikipedia user page for an allegedly abusive sock puppet account." (yes I know it's supposed to be a joke) While there's no reason not to rename bad faith accounts, it seems like a waste of effort - particularly as the local user has no contributions here. Conrad.Irwin 16:06, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
SUL makes it very useful to get accounts straightened around before unifying. I think people are vouching because it's been several days and the request hadn't been acted on, apparently... The last comment was !! explaining things, and no sign that the 'crat had acted. That's just a guess. ++Lar: t/c 16:57, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would further guess that people are also trying to encourage him/her in a positive way that might lead to resuming their excellent work on enwp one day. As a side note, if you aren't active on enwp, then you probably aren't going to understand the magnitude of drama that this case had. While I respect that enwt is not enwp, please just take our word for it that facilitating this user is the right thing to do after all the crap they have been through. --Dragon695 02:23, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Done, sort of. The user !! has been moved, but Bangbang will have to log in here via SUL to get the name since it's reserved and I can't merge the account anymore. Frankly, I don't see why we can't move an empty account out of the way for something that would have happened anyway had it not been taken. If there's any untoward behavior from this account (not that I expect it, frankly), we can take the usual measures. --Dvortygirl 17:53, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SUL Utility Report

UPDATE: I have managed to recover the account password, and the account has been attached to SUL. Feel free to ignore this now. :)

Could you interchange the contributions of user Annabel (talkcontribs) and Annabelleke (talkcontribs)? A few months ago, I made a request to usurp the account Annabel, which was fulfilled. However, at that time, it was not possible to rename a user to an account that was already SUL'ed. Due to a mistake and autologin, I made some edits with the autologinned account Annabel. However I'd prefer to have the majority of my edits under the account Annabel (see a list of my accounts at sul:Annabel.

Renamings to perform:

  1. Rename Annabel to Temporary20081006
  2. Rename Annabelleke to Annabel
  3. Rename Temporary20081006 to Annabelleke

Thanks a lot.
