aerology (usually uncountable, plural aerologies)

  1. The branch of meteorology involving the observation of the atmosphere by means of balloons, kites, rockets, drones, airplanes, etc.
  2. The study of the air and of the atmosphere and technological methods involved. Used in the US Navy until early 1957 to encompass operations as well as scientific knowledge.
