Compare Aklanon apid (“enclose”), Cebuano apid (“stack up”), Hiligaynon apid (“combine; fit together”), Waray-Waray apid (“put in rows”). See also Kankanaey apid and Central Bontoc apid which came from a separate Proto-Austronesian *qapid (“braid; twine”).
