From Japanese いちぶ (ichibu).

ichibu (plural ichibu or ichibus)

1. (historical) An old gold or silver coin of Japan, rectangular in shape. It corresponded to the ichibugin or ichibuban, and was used during the Edo period prior to the introduction of the yen in 1871.
