editInherited from Ottoman Turkish قراغو (kırağu) or قراغی (kırağı),[1][2] from Proto-Turkic *kïragu (“frost, hoarfrost”),[3] thought to be related to Classical Mongolian ᠬᠢᠷᠠᠭᠤ (qiraɣu, “frost”).[4][5]
