Albanian edit

Etymology edit

Akin to lag (to wet, moisten), lëgatë (marsh)[1] and possibly laç (wetland).[2] Likely a formation from Proto-Indo-European *welg- (wet, damp), akin to Proto-Slavic *vòlga (moisture).[3][2] Alternatively borrowed from South Slavic descendants of it,[4] compare Serbo-Croatian vlȁgaвла̏га, Aromanian vlagã (moisture).
