lagë
Albanian edit
Etymology edit
Akin to lag (“to wet, moisten”), lëgatë (“marsh”)[1] and possibly laç (“wetland”).[2] Likely a formation from Proto-Indo-European *welg- (“wet, damp”), akin to Proto-Slavic *vòlga (“moisture”).[3][2] Alternatively borrowed from South Slavic descendants of it,[4] compare Serbo-Croatian vlȁga/вла̏га, Aromanian vlagã (“moisture”).
