From Malay mewah. Compare to Temiar eniwoh (festivity, commemoration, celebration), Javanese ꦲꦺꦮꦸꦃ (éwuh, busy), Old Javanese ewuh, ewĕh, iwĕh, iwö (difficult; to have as an object of care, have at heart, mind).
