Etymology edit
For its composition, Ancient Greek μόλυβδος (mólubdos, “lead”) and crystal habit φύλλον (phúllon, “leaf”), + -ite. Note that the prefix molybdo- + here does NOT denote molybdenum; the element is named after the same Greek root.
