Verb

orthographize (third-person singular simple present orthographizes, present participle orthographizing, simple past and past participle orthographized) (transitive)

1. To spell correctly or according to usage.
2. To correct in regard to spelling.
   • 1871, John Earle, The Philology of the English Tongue:

     "In the" coalesced into "ith", which modern reaction has orthographized to "i' th".

3. To devise a writing system for a language.
