Etymology edit
Borrowed from French pathologie. It was originally a purely medical term, however, through the term rodzina patologiczna (which means a “dysfunctional family”), the meaning of patologia was changed in the informal language to refer to the lowest, poorest, and dysfunctioning class of society; for example, people who become stealing alcoholics because of poverty.

Noun edit
patologia f
- (medicine) pathology (branch of medicine)
- (medicine) pathology (medical specialty)
- (pathology) pathology (abnormality)
- (colloquial, offensive, of people) brokenness, dysfunctionality (used to comment on usually lower-class individuals, families, or relationships displaying antisocial or abusive traits)
