Compound of pertama (“first”) +‎ x (literally “time”), a textspeak of pertama kali (“first time”). Reinforced by Pertamax, a fuel product by Indonesian state-owned corporation Pertamina, this brand was etymologically blended from Pertamina +‎ max, the latter is an English word.
