psychological injury (plural psychological injuries)

(law) Damage to the psyche caused by an event that may lead to a tort action (lawsuit) or other compensation claim.
If a soldier suffers a psychological injury as a result of combat he or she may be eligible for compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
