Sino-Vietnamese word from 聘.

Its Middle Chinese ancestor 聘 (MC phjiengH), a chongniu-IV word, would also have yielded unattested doublet **thính; its attested initial ‹s-› likely results from a historical phonological change which yields doublets with ‹s-› vs. ‹th-› like SV readings sất vs. thất from Middle Chinese 匹 (MC phjit), SV readings sái vs. thái from Middle Chinese 蔡 (MC tshajH), native sẹo vs. thẹo (“scar”), etc.
