Etymology edit

From سورونمك or Ottoman Turkish سورنمك (sürünmek, to rub something on or in, to rub one's self against, to crawl or grovel on the ground),[1] from Ottoman Turkish سورمك (sürmek, to drive before one, to push along, to drive away, to rub on, to go on, to extend), from Proto-Turkic *sür- (to drive before one, to herd, to drive away),[2] morphologically sür- +‎ -ün- +‎ -mek.
