From kep. Beside shqep, an Albanian formation with the intensive prefix sh-, from Proto-Albanian *skaipa. Compare Old Norse skífa (to split), Old Frisian skīvia (to divide)[1] and perhaps English shape.

Etymology 2

A parallel form is shkrep, continuing Proto-Albanian *krepa (body), cognate to Sanskrit कृप् (ḱṛp, shape, beautiful appareance), Latin corpus (body), Old High German hrēf (belly). Similar sense development in Germanic (compare Gothic galeiks (like), from leik (body)).[2]
