From Mexican Spanish sotol, from Classical Nahuatl zōtolin (“palm tree”).

- Any of several species of North American desert plants of the genus Dasylirion, of the asparagus family.
- A distilled spirit made from the sap of some of these plants, especially Dasylirion wheeleri.
