Sino-Vietnamese word from 世界, composed of 世 (“lifetime; time”) and 界 (“boundary; space”), from Buddhist Literary Chinese 世界 (shìjiè, “realm; domain; universe; reality”, literally “time and space”). Compare thế gian, thời gian and vũ trụ.
