Etymology

Shares common origin with ufatmak, ovmak and öğütmek, from Proto-Turkic *ub- (to crush, to mince, to grind)[1][2] with the suffix -le, took over semantic functions of "uvmak"[3] and "uvamak", examples of which can be found in Karakhanid and Old Uyghur.[4]
