1. (geology) Descriptive of the contact between one unit of rock and another, or of one of the two units themselves, which are separated by an erosional surface such as an unconformity representing a lacuna in the rock record.

     In the Wangjiashan section, proximal to the plateau, sedimentary rocks are deformed and lacustrine deposition is much more frequently interrupted by fluvial deposits. After a depositional hiatus the uncomformable Jishi Formation, a boulder conglomerate, was deposited.
