Etymology

Learned borrowing from Ancient Greek ἀκατάστατος (akatástatos, unstable, irregular), with semantic loan from French désordonné, en désordre, as well as semantic loan from German unordentlich.[1] The Ancient Greek term is from ἀ- (a-, a-, un-) + an adjectival formation from καθίστημι (kathístēmi, to set in order).[2]
