Etymology

edit

It may continue *λουκ-ιον (*louk-ion) as a derivative of a root noun, as is seen in Latin lūx (light), if from Proto-Indo-European *lewk- (white; light; bright). Compare also Latin lūcus (grove, wood), from the same source. The etymology remains highly improbable, though.
