Etymology edit

From Old Church Slavonic въскрѣсити (vŭskrěsiti), formed as въз- (vǎz-) +‎ Proto-Slavic *krěsiti, ultimately from the 0-grade ablaut of Proto-Indo-European*kreyp- +‎ *-s-.[1] Akin to Bulgarian кре́пък (krépǎk), крепя́ (krepjá), Slovak okriepit', and Lithuanian kraipyti.
