editA Paleo-Balkan wanderwort akin to Byzantine Greek γούνα (goúna, “coarse garment”), Albanian gunë (“goatskin coat”), Latin gunna (“leather garment”). Possibly stemming back from Proto-Slavic *guna/*guňa/*guňь, an early Scythian borrowing ultimately from Proto-Indo-Iranian *gawnám (“fur”).
