Etymology edit

The origin is uncertain. Perhaps composed of the privative ան- (an-) +‎ -հեթեթ (-hetʻetʻ), related to հայթեմ (haytʻem, to attach, to adjust, to put together); so basically meaning ‘un-shaped, un-formed, un-adjusted’.
