Etymology edit

From Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰésr-m̥, accusative of *ǵʰésr- (“hand”). The plural ձեռք (jeṙkʻ) is from Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰesr-es. The old instrumental *ձերբ (*jerb), found only in compounds, continues Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰesr̥-bʰi (see -բ (-b)).
