  עם כיבוש ה אזור ה מכונה בִּלַאד אלשַאם על ידי ה ערבים ב מחצית ה ראשונה של ה מאה ה שביעית הסתערבו יהודי סוריה ו בין היתר סיגלו ל עצמם את ה לשון ה ערבית, ו בה דיברו משך מאות ב שנים.
  With the conquest by the Arabs of the area called Bilād al-Šām [the Levant] in the first half of the seventh century, the Jews of Syria became Arabized and, among other things, adopted for themselves the Arabic language and spoke it for hundreds of years.
