From امـ (em, to-; this) +‎ روز (ruz, day), from Middle Persian 𐭫𐭣𐭭𐭤 (im, this) + 𐭩𐭥𐭬 (rōz, day). Compare Mazanderani ام رو (am ro, today),[1] Central Kurdish ئەمڕۆ (emrro, today), Northern Kurdish îro (today), Pashto نن ورځ (nan wraź, today).
