editInherited from Prakrit *𑀩𑀳𑀺𑀡𑀯𑀇 (*bahiṇavaï), from Sanskrit भगिनीपति (bhaginīpati), from भगिनी (bhaginī, “sister”) + पति (páti, “husband”).[1][2]
