Borrowed from Classical Persian زنانى (zanānī), from زنان (zanān, women) +‎ ی (). Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *gʷḗn (whence Classical Sanskrit जानि (jāni)). Compare Persian زنانه (zanâna).
