Etymology edit

Inherited from Old Hindi पघिलना (paghilanā), from Sauraseni Prakrit *𑀧𑀖𑀺𑀮𑀤𑀺 (*paghiladi), from Sanskrit *प्रघिरति (praghirati), from प्र- (pra-, forward, forth) +‎ घृ (ghṛ, to moisten). Cognate with Punjabi پِگَھلݨا (pighalṇā) / ਪਿਘਲਣਾ (pighlaṇā), Marathi पाघळणे (pāghaḷṇe).
