Etymology edit

Uncertain whether an ideophonic word from a root ܩ-ܒ-ܒ (q-b-b) – compare Classical Syriac ܓܘܒܐ (gubbā, well; cistern), ܓܝܒܐ (gaybā, gayḇā, vault; shrine) – or an Iranian borrowing, compare Persian کپه (koppe, pile, stack; dome-shaped object), Central Kurdish کۆپ (kop, crest, peak, summit) and گەبە (gebe, mumps).
