Etymology edit

Inherited from Prakrit *𑀚𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀸𑀯𑁂𑀇 (*jattāvei), from Sanskrit ज्ञप्त (jñaptá) + -आपयति (-āpayati). Compare Nepali जताउनु (jatāunu), Punjabi ਜਤਾਉਣਾ (jatāuṇā), Marathi जताविणे (jatāviṇe, to inform).
