Cognate with Chittagonian ঠাঁই (ṭai), Assamese ঠাই (thai), Maithili ঠাম (ṭhām), Bhojpuri 𑂘𑂰𑂀𑂫 / ठाँव (ṭhā̃v), Romani than, Persian ستان (stân), Kamkata-viri tõ, English stand. Doublet of স্থান (sthan).
